"I was born in Louisville, Kentucky to a mama who has a penchant for drama. I inherited every ounce of flair from her. I'm an avid New Yorker and find the city offers a rich palette of characters from which to draw. If you catch me staring at you on the subway it's probably because you have an incredibly fascinating habit that I'd like to borrow." Kim Gainer studied theater at the University of Michigan. After moving to New York she began producing and performing with theater company, The Shalimar, which has performed in New York and internationally. she continues to contribute creatively to the company. She's performed at venerable New York institutions such as PS 122, The Ontological-Hysteric, Women's Project and Productions and The Cherry Lane as well regionally at great theaters like Actors Theater of Louisville, Stamford Theaterworks and Stageworks on the Hudson. Kim's a fairly decent juggler and keeps fit and limber by jump roping and by doing the occasional splits. She's the recipient of a Connecticut Critics Circle award as well as a Stage Award for Acting Exellence. |
